CONWAY, S.C.– Coastal Carolina coach Tim Beck said beginning quarterback Grayson McCall is doubtful for today’s game versus Marshall after sustaining a scary hit in the win at Arkansas State on Saturday and investing a night in the hospital.McCall ended his run with a slide and took a hard hit from Red Wolves protective back Trevian Thomas late in the Chanticleers’27-17 triumph. McCall’s head appeared to bounce versus the turf.McCall, the three-time Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, lay on the ground for several minutes before he was carted off the field and required to a medical facility, where he remained over night for tests and observation.Beck stated Monday that McCall did not suffer a concussion and was home and in great spirits. While stating it was uncertain for McCall to face the Rumbling Herd( 4-3, 1-2)at home on Saturday, Beck would not dismiss his return in the next game for the Chanticleers (4-3, 2-2). McCall has played in 42 games the past 5 seasons, tossing for 10,005 lawns with 88 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He set an NCAA mark with a 207.6 passing effectiveness score for the 2021 season.
