WR Townsend among 5 planning to leave UCF
GAINESVILLE, Fla.– UCF receiver Xavier Townsend and 4 teammates are redshirting and planning to enter the transfer portal.The school confirmed their decisions before the group’s Saturday night road game at Florida. Protective end Kaven Call, right tackle Wes Dorsey and securities Bryon Threats and William Wells signed up with Townsend in choosing to pull out after UCF’s first 4 games.Townsend, a junior from Tampa, has 10 catches for 69 lawns and a touchdown. He was the only starter among the group.The Knights( 3-1), coming off a 48-21 loss to Colorado, also stated kicker Colton Boomer has a concealed injury and didn’t make the journey north. Grant Reddick is filling in and using No. 33, which previously belonged to Call.Under NCAA guidelines, players can play up to 4 regular-season games without them counting towards their four years of eligibility.
So all 5 players can formally enter the transfer website Dec. 9 and land somewhere else. They would be allowed to join their next teams for bowl practices but would not be eligible till 2025.
