Where are all of Xander Schauffele’s prizes? He doesn’t know
PORTRUSH, Northern Ireland– Do not feel bad for Xander Schauffele having to return the claret jug when he came to Royal Portrush to defend his title in The Open. It’s not like he had anywhere to keep it.Schauffele has actually
won 8 times in his PGA Tour profession. That includes 2 majors, The Open and the PGA Champion. It includes the Trip Championship in his novice season. And it includes the Olympic gold medal from Tokyo in 2021.
Where to keep all of it? Not at his house. Schauffele said his moms and dads keep all his trophies, “probably in a safe-deposit box.” They have a home in San Diego, and his dad is building a place on Kauai, living in what Stefan Schauffele calls “the container.”
The gold medal?
“I actually have no concept where that is, to be entirely truthful,” Schauffele said.
It’s not all that surprising considering how easy Schauffele and his better half prefer to live. He commemorates a bit more than Scottie Scheffler, however just like the world’s No. 1 player, it’s on to the next competition to begin over.
“What am I going to do with it? I don’t really welcome individuals over to my home. Am I simply going to go look at it myself?” he stated. “I do not wish to stroll into a trophy space like, ‘Look how terrific I am.’ I was just raised to believe that method, and it’s kind of stuck.”
That begs the question: What is on the shelves of their Florida home if not prizes?
“My other half hung up some photos of me in my health club of me winning the Olympic medal, and she put it so high up I can’t reach it,” Schauffele stated. “I have to get a ladder now, and it bothers me. If anything, set up me in a Masters coat, like that would piss me off, you understand what I imply? Something like that is more motivating.”
If it depended on Schauffele, he would hang images of his pets. Or absolutely nothing. Maybe a clock.
“I’m always late, so perhaps a clock would be good for me,” he said.He said Ryder
Cup captain Keegan Bradley has told him to be sure to take pleasure in big wins, and Schauffele figures he will do that at some time.
“But right now I truly want to keep my head down and keep charging,” he said.
