Weigman readily available for A&M but supporting Reed

Pete Thamel, ESPNSep 14, 2024, 07:15 AM ET Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman is acting as the backup for Saturday’s game at Florida, with redshirt freshman Marcel Reed getting the start.Sources told ESPN that Weigman is handling an upper-body injury and has been restricted in practice this week.In Weigman’s place, Reed is making his
very first career start for Texas A&M. He had taken a majority of the first-team representatives in practice this week when Weigman wasn’t available.Reed played in a backup role against McNeese recently, tossing for 71 backyards and rushing for 43 backyards. He played well in Texas A&M’s bowl game last season, entering early in the Texas Bowl and throwing for 361 backyards in a loss to Oklahoma State.
