USF OK’s $340M spending plan for on-campus stadium

    • Graduate of the University of Florida.The University of South Florida board of trustees approved a $340 million budget plan Tuesday to construct a 35,000-seat on-campus football stadium.The board authorized$ 200 million in debt costs to fund the majority of the arena, forecasted to open for the 2026 season. The rest of the cash is anticipated to come through contributions and other university funds. According to The Tampa Bay Times, the expense is not anticipated to be settled till next year. The Bulls presently play their home games at Raymond James Stadium, house of the Tampa Bay

      Buccaneers. USF had fallen behind with its on-campus facilities over the last few years, but opened a new$ 22 million indoor center this previous January.The new arena is slated to be constructed just north of there. With the improved centers, and current designation as an Association of American Universities member, USF is wanting to position itself in a much better area in the next round

      of adjustment.
