UCF QB Plumlee to sit couple of weeks with leg injury

    • Graduate of the University of Florida.UCF quarterback John Rhys Plumlee will miss the next few weeks with a leg injury, coach Gus Malzahn revealed Monday.Plumlee was injured late in an 18-16 win over Boise State this previous weekend while sliding on a 7-yard go to get UCF into basket variety for the game-winning field goal. Malzahn did not information the nature of the injury, but said it does not require surgery.UCF plays Villanova today prior to playing its first-ever Huge 12 game at Kansas State on Sept. 23. Timmy McClain, a transfer from USF Bulls, will begin while Plumlee is out.Editor’s Picks

      In a post on social networks, Plumlee said, “I will be back!”

      McClain started nine games as a freshman at USF. He played in the UCF opener versus Kent State late in the game, going 3-for-5 for 53 backyards, while adding 2 carries for 21 lawns.

      “JRP is among the much better quarterbacks in all of college football so when you lose someone like that, everyone else has actually got to raise their level,” Malzahn stated. “That’s our obstacle. I’m confident we’ll do that.”
