sources confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday. The Pac-12 board of directors unanimously authorized applications from Boise State, Colorado State, San Diego State and Fresno State for subscription to start in the 2026-27

MWC commissioner Gloria Nevarez released a declaration late Wednesday to deal with reports the four schools were leaving the conference.” The Mountain West Conference knows media reports regarding the potential departure
of several of our members, and we will have more to say in the days ahead,”Nevarez said in her declaration.” All members will be held to the Conference laws and policies should they choose to leave. The requirements of the scheduling agreement will apply to the Pac-12 needs to they confess Mountain West members. Our Board of Directors is fulfilling to identify our next actions. The Mountain West has a proud 25-year history and will continue to flourish in the years ahead.” Editor’s Picks 1 Associated Mountain West laws require departing schools to pay an exit cost of roughly $18 million with two years ‘notification
, which is
what the 4 schools anticipate to pay, a source stated.(That number would leap to $36 million with one years’ notice. )The Pac-12 is expected to be in position to assist the schools with the exit fees, in part, due to withheld media-rights distribution charges to left members and other conference assets. The conference would also go through an additional$43 million in poaching fees, as laid out in the scheduling agreement in between the conferences this year that resulted in OSU and WSU playing 6 Mountain West opponents.Once these four additions are confirmed, the conference would still need to add 2 more to reach the NCAA minimum requirement. The conference remains in the first of a two-year grace duration paid for by NCAA laws to exist listed below the minimum when it comes to departures.News of the four schools set to sign up with the Pac-12 was initially reported by Yahoo Sports.
