Ole Miss coach Beard agrees to brand-new agreement

OXFORD, Miss.– Mississippi coach Chris Beard has agreed to a brand-new agreement amidst a launching season when he won his first 13 games.Keith Carter
, the Ole Miss vice chancellor for intercollegiate sports, revealed the brand-new deal on Wednesday, the one-year anniversary of Beard’s hiring. The school did not launch details of the contract.Beard received a four-year deal with the Rebels and was arranged to make $3.35 million next season. State law limits agreements to a maximum of four years.The 10th-seeded Rebels are 20-11 going into the Southeastern Conference competition, their very first 20-win season in five years. play with a No. 19 ranking. The Rebels ended up 7-11 in regular-season league games. “The future of Ole Miss Basketball might not be brighter under Coach Beard’s management,” Carter said in a statement.”His effect on every aspect of our program was instantly apparent, and it has equated to a new requirement of success and a culture that is constructing every day.”He has galvanized Rebel Nation, and particularly our student body, and created a newly found enthusiasm for guys’s basketball that is felt throughout the whole Ole Miss community.”Beard is a four-time conference coach of the year and was AP’s national coach of the year in 2019. His two-year period at university Texas ended quickly in January 2023 following an arrest on suspicion of domestic violence.
Felony domestic charges were ultimately dismissed, and a district attorney said his workplace determined that the charge of attack by strangulation/suffocation-family violence could not be proven beyond an affordable doubt.Beard was jailed when his fiancĂ©e, Randi Trew, called 911 and told officers that Beard strangled, bit and hit her during a conflict in his home. She later stated that Beard didn’t choke her and was defending himself, and that she never planned for Beard to be apprehended and prosecuted.
