after two games as Jack Lausch will begin today versus Eastern Illinois, coach David Braun revealed Monday.Lausch will change Mike Wright, who had a hard time in Friday’s overtime home loss to Duke, finishing 19 of 35 passes for 156 backyards with an interception and several tosses that were almost chosen off. Braun stated after the game that Northwestern was”rolling with Mike right now”however that his examination would continue. The coach on Monday stated that he didn’t want to reveal a modification before he got an opportunity to examine the game film.Wright, a transfer from Mississippi State who had started games at Vanderbilt, took on Lausch in preseason camp and won the beginning
job. However the senior did not throw a goal pass in his first 2 starts for Northwestern and had some issues managing snaps in a season-opening win against Miami(Ohio). Northwestern is one of five FBS groups without a goal pass this season. After tying for sixth nationally in least turnovers with nine in 2015, the Wildcats currently have 4, an element Braun mentioned in the quarterback switch.
“Your ultimate responsibility is to secure and value the football, “he said.Lausch, a redshirt sophomore from Chicago, impressed the coaches throughout the spring and summertime, leapfrogging Brendan Sullivan on the depth chart, which ultimately caused Sullivan moving to Iowa. Lausch has simply 11 passing efforts in 2 seasons, while hurrying for 79 lawns and a touchdown last fall.Braun said he and first-year offending planner Zach Lujan remain in” total alignment” about the switch to Lausch.
