Missouri males’s basketball leading scorer Caleb Grill was taken to a local hospital as a preventative measure, according to a team representative, after suffering an injury to his head and neck during Wednesday night’s home game versus Lindenwood. The representative, Jason Veniskey, said Grill was”responsive “after being removed the flooring on a stretcher in the first half of the Tigers’ 81-61 win in Columbia. After the game, Missouri coach Dennis Gates said he was awaiting the outcomes of Grill’s CT scan but that all signs were positive.Grill was hurt while trying to get a rebound; he appeared to get
hit by an opposing player before his neck snapped back and he fell to the flooring. Gates stated”an elbow” to Grill’s head and neck area caused the injury.Trainers surrounded Grill and placed him on the stretcher. He provided the home crowd a thumbs-up indication as
he was leaving the court.”Nobody likes to see their colleague decrease,” Gates said.” In reality, we’ll go over [to the healthcare facility] and check on him and ensure everything is okay. But to my knowledge, he was responsive with us, leaving this arena with his thumbs up. … Credit to our team, our EMS team. They did a terrific job and I’m really grateful.” Grill entered the game balancing 15.5 points and linking on 55%of his shots from beyond the arc. The veteran guard missed out on the majority of 2023-24 after
suffering a wrist injury throughout the season.
