Michigan State backup shot in leg in hometown

Michigan State men’s basketball freshman Jeremy Worries Jr. suffered nonlife-threatening injuries from a gunshot injury near his home town of Joliet, Illinois, the school revealed Saturday.Fears, 18, was shot in
the leg late Friday or early Saturday. The school stated he underwent surgical treatment Saturday however did not provide details surrounding the situations of the shooting.According to a declaration from the Joliet Police Department, an 18-year-old male and a 19-year-old lady were both injured in an overnight shooting. The man was shot in the thigh and the woman was shot in the hips, police stated, noting both injuries were not deadly. Police said the male and female remained in a home with friends when a male shooter got in and began to shoot. Cops said they were uncertain if the two victims were the desired targets and have not situated the suspect throughout an active investigation.Although cops did not recognize the victims, a source said the details line up with what they know about

“Jeremy underwent surgery today and is resting conveniently,” Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said in a declaration. “While there is much we still do not know, my focus is on supporting Jeremy on his road to recovery.”
Worries posted an Instagram story Saturday from what appeared to be a health center bed, writing “Minor problem we gone be good appreciate yall.”

In the Spartans’first game after the shooting, a section of the Breslin Center was left open to honor the victims.In 2022, former Michigan State star Adreian Payne was shot and eliminated in Florida after
he tried to prevent a domestic incident.Michigan State (7-5)deals with Indiana State in East Lansing on Dec. 30.
