Marcus Mariota on Commanders return: Hard to miss being

Quarterback Marcus Mariota had fun with four various groups over the last 4 seasons, however there won’t be a change of address in 2025.

Mariota chose to re-sign with the Leaders in March and he will spend his 2nd straight year backing up Jayden Daniels. That’s not a situation that guarantees much playing time for the second overall choice of the 2015 draft, however Mariota was content to stick with what he knows instead of beginning all over again.

“For me, it was one of those things hard to miss, and you wish to go somewhere where you’re wanted,” Mariota stated, by means of Spectrum News. “And they were extremely determined that they wanted me back for another year. I like coach, [Dan Quinn] and just [offending planner Kliff Kingsbury] and the offense, and for me, it resembled a no brainer. To stand here 11 years in– very, very couple of people get a chance to do that. So I’m thankful for each day and the capability to go into work and have a good time, sufficed loose, and have such a fantastic room that makes it a lot better, too. I’m just sort of having fun with it, rolling with the punches. Whatever comes, if they need me, I’m prepared to play. Otherwise, I’m here for Jay, and simply making sure he’s playing to the best of his capability.”

Daniels was the 2nd general pick in 2024 and Mariota stated the chance to deal with him is like “reliving my profession, in a sense” since he can help direct him through locations where he might have “slipped up or where I could have been better” when he was with the Titans. Daniels is off to a strong start on that front and the Commanders are counting on Mariota continuing to press him in the right directions in their second year together.
