KU suspends transfer guard Morris from program

Kansas guard Arterio Morris has been suspended from the program, a school representative verified to ESPN late Friday.The Kansas City Star reported Friday that his suspension comes amid a University of Kansas cops examination of an alleged sexual assault last month at McCarthy Hall, the dorm on school where the men’s basketball group lives. Although Morris is not named in the event report that information the accusation, per the Star, a source informed the publication that Morris is the topic of “an accusation.”
“I can validate that Arterio Morris has been suspended from the program,” Daniel Berk, a Kansas sports representative, told ESPN by phone. “That’s all we can verify.”

Morris has not been detained and the district lawyer’s office in Lawrence told the Star that Morris’ case “has not been presented to our workplace for charging factor to consider.” Three other players– Johnny Furphy, Elmarko Jackson and Nick Timberlake– were mentioned in the incident report as witnesses and “other,” respectively, but a source told the paper they were not “from another location” involved in the incident.Morris ‘suspension comes one day after he got in a plea offer that canceled an October trial that had been set for a misdemeanor attack charge versus him. Last summer season, he was detained after an ex-girlfriend implicated him of assaulting her following a break up prior to his freshman season at Texas.Morris, who balanced 4.6 points for Texas last season, signed up with the Kansas program after adding to the Longhorns’Elite Eight run. In high school, Morris was a five-star player ranked 18th amongst ESPN’s top 100 recruits.Kansas head coach Expense Self did not react to text from ESPN looking for remark Friday night.Kansas is set to enter the 2023-24 season as the No. 1 team in every reliable preseason poll after adding previous Michigan star Hunter Dickinson from the transfer website. Morris was expected to reinforce the group’s guard rotation, which is anchored by Dajuan Harris Jr.
