Justin Simmons: I wish to go to the best circumstance,

Last offseason, safety Justin Simmons didn’t sign with the Falcons till Aug. 15– midway through training camp.

Simmons is once again a totally free representative in 2025 after completing his 1 year handle Atlanta. And this time, he would like to sign with a group a little earlier.

“I suggest, that’s constantly the objective,” Simmons stated in an interview with Kay Adams on Tuesday. “I think– yes, there’s advantages and disadvantages to training camp. Cons [would be] going through it, your body breaking down, the whole 9– particularly as you grow older. But, I indicate, a great deal of the pros is constructing that connection, specifically when you’re not with the group and you have not necessarily played with a lot of those guys. So, I think it would’ve benefited me to go a little bit earlier. But it also simply wasn’t in the cards. I believe Atlanta has a great young security in DeMarcco Hellams and I liked Richie Grant’s game a lot. So, at the time, could they have included a veteran? Yeah. Were they seeking to? Possibly not. Then a number of guys go down in camp and it resembles, ‘OK, we’ve got to add somebody.’ Then your number’s called and you go.

“So, we’ll see. We’ll see. I wish to go to the best circumstance, and I want to go to a group that’s going to win. So, we’ll see what that looks like.”

Could he return to the Falcons? It does not seem like Simmons is counting on it.

“It was a 1 year thing,” Simmons stated. “They like kind of their more youthful guys, too. Often things just do not work out and you enter various instructions. I do not understand if the door’s always closed. But we’ll see.”

In 16 starts for Atlanta in 2015, Simmons recorded 62 total tackles with 7 passes defensed and two interceptions. He’s now No. 4 on the active list with 32 career picks.Simmons is No. 51 on PFT’s list of the leading 100 free agents of 2025.
