Jeanty rumbles for 259 backyards, 4 TDs in BSU win
Sep 29, 2024, 02:15 AM ET BOISE, Idaho– Ashton Jeanty ran for 259 lawns and 4 goals, Matt Lauter had four catches for 96 backyards and two scores and No. 25 Boise State rose past Washington State 45-24 on Saturday night.Playing its first game as a ranked group because 2020, Boise State (3-1 )retreated in the 4th quarter against its future Pac-12 Conference competitor. Washington State( 4-1)had no answer for Jeanty– and no ground game of its own.Jeanty, who entered the game leading the nation in hurrying lawns per game with 195.3, squandered little time. On Boise State’s fifth play from skirmish, he broke four takes on around the line of skirmish before outracing the remainder of the defense on a 64-yard TD run. Jeanty, who now has 845 yards on 82 brings with 13 touchdowns this season, had his fourth 200-yard game, connecting a school record.
“We simply got beat in all 3 stages, and quite decisively,” Washington State coach Jake Dickert said. “Jeanty was extraordinary. 10 lawns a carry. Obviously you have actually got to hold him to less than that if you want to win the football game.”
The Cougars reacted with a quick strike of their own when quarterback John Mateer needed only three plays to go 65 yards, shooting a 14-yard TD pass to Cooper Mathers.Jeanty added a 14-yard goal run late in the 2nd quarter to offer the Broncos a 17-10 halftime lead.

Despite suppressing Boise State’s offense early in the second half, Dickert bet on a fourth-and-inches from his team’s 27 late in the 3rd quarter. However Boise State’s defense stiffened, denying Mateer the half a lawn he required.
“When it’s inches to go, when it’s fourth-and-1 for the past 2 and a half years, we have actually gone all out each time,” Dickert said. “That’s what we’re going to do. That’s how we play.”
3 plays later on, Maddux Madsen hit Lauter on a 22-yard scoring strike to push Boise State’s cause 24-10 with 1:22 left in the 3rd quarter.Then, after another Washington State touchdown halved the deficit, Jeanty duped another electrifying run, this time racing 59 yards by breaking three deals with and eluding another on the goal line to dive in for a score.Mateer tossed for 327 yards and a pair of goals.
Wayshawn Parker led Washington State in rushing with 35 yards.Madsen threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns for Boise State.The Boise State defense recorded 7 sacks leading to 67 lost backyards.
