Isack Hadjar handed grid drop for hindering Carlos Sainz in
Isack Hadjar has received a three-place grid penalty for the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix after a “complete miscommunication” with his Racing Bulls group caused the novice hampering Carlos Sainz in qualifying.
With the Williams motorist on a hot lap looking to make it through to Q2, Sainz was obstructed by Hadjar approaching Turn 6 and fumed over the radio after being gotten rid of in 17th as an outcome.
Hadjar pleaded his innocence at the time, but has actually been dropped three locations for Sunday’s race following a summons to the steward’s room significance he will now begin the grand prix in 12th.
“I never hamper anybody, not even in practice,” the Frenchman said after qualifying, but before his grid drop was announced.
“I got informed Carlos had terminated his lap, and in truth he was still pushing. So, complete miscommunication from what I got told, and it’s a shame, it ruins his qualifying. And most likely a bit mine.”
The stewarding document validated Hadjar’s explanation, laying out why the choice was required to drop him out of the top 10 in Montreal.

“Vehicle 6 was on an in-lap and was captured by Automobile 55, on a push lap, at the entry to turn 6. Although Vehicle 6 attempted to move off the racing line to leave area for Vehicle 55, the move was too late. The chauffeur of Car 6 agreed that Automobile 55 was restrained.
“He explained that he had actually previously been told by his group that Cars and truck 55 was approaching on a push lap but the group then informed him that Car 55 had deserted the lap. He stated that although he saw Automobile 55 in his mirrors, he trusted what he had actually been told by his group and when he realised the information was wrong he did his best to move out of the way.
“The basic penalty for this violation throughout Qualifying in the Charge Guidelines is a 3 grid position penalty despite whether the incident was the fault of the driver or the team.”
