Huskers cut ties with Joseph after assault charge
LINCOLN, Neb.– Mickey Joseph, Nebraska’s interim football coach for nine games this season who was charged with felony assault, is no longer part of the Cornhuskers’ program, the athletic department revealed Friday.The department stated in a statement it would have no additional comment.Joseph is accused of putting his hands around
a woman’s throat, pulling her hair and punching her during a domestic disagreement Nov. 30, according to a cops affidavit. He was charged Dec. 1 with attack by strangulation or suffocation. He was put on administrative leave after his arrest
. He rejected to authorities that he attacked the female, and his next court appearance is Jan. 30. Joseph’s arrest came 2 days after Matt Rhule was presented as the group’s new
head coach.It was unclear whether Joseph received discontinuance wage. He was under contract through Dec. 31, 2023, and his annual wage was listed at$600,000. Under regards to the agreement, he could be fired for cause if founded guilty of a misdemeanor or felony that hindered his capability to perform tasks on behalf of the university. If a shooting for cause is supported, the university would not have to pay the remaining money owed on the contract.
