Hanson boys, Platte-Geddes girls claim Area 4B golf titles

MITCHELL– It was a banner day for both the Hanson kids and Platte-Geddes ladies golf teams on Wednesday.Led by a 1-2 finish on the boys side, the Beavers swept the Area 4B young boys golf titles at Lakeview Golf Course, publishing a winning team rating of 230. The competition was postponed from Monday due to damp weather condition in the location.

Hanson topped second-place Bon Homme (249) in the team standing by 19 strokes, as both teams received the state competition. Behind the two young boys group qualifiers, McCook Central/Montrose (251) was third followed by Platte-Geddes (251) and Ethan (254) to complete the top-five.

Additional girls state qualifiers include Corsica-Stickney’s Claire Gerlach (sixth, 96), MCM’s Khloie Klinkhammer (seventh, 96), Platte-Geddes’ Randi Oberbroekling (8th, 97) and Leah Schuman (11th, 103), Scotland/Menno’s Kailen Oden (ninth, 100), Ethan’s Ashley Clauson (10th, 102), Kimball/White Lake’s Charlee Bass (12th, 105) and Bridgewater-Emery’s Candice Stahl (13th, 106).

The Class B state golf competition starts on Monday, June 2, in Watertown. The ladies tournament will be held at Meadow Winds Golf Course, while the boys will be objected to at Cattail Crossing Golf Course.
