Celtics officially cut ties with 6-foot-7 former 76ers forward one
The Boston Celtics were active on the trade market on Tuesday.
The franchise carried out a financially-driven offer involving a 6-foot-7 forward who spent two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers earlier in his career.
On Wednesday, the Celtics officially revealed the trade on X/Twitter.
“We have traded Georges Niang and two future second-round choices to the Utah Jazz for RJ Luis Jr,” the company stated.
Regrettably for Niang, the 32-year-old has nothing to show for his time with the Celtics. Boston obtained Niang from the Atlanta Hawks in July, but the previous second-round pick has actually discovered himself on the relocation yet again.
Niang averaged 9.9 points and 3.4 rebounds with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks last season, shooting 46.1% from the field and 40.6% from three-point range.

Based upon ESPN’s Bobby Marks’ recent report, the Celtics made the best decision to proceed from Niang after less than two months.
“Utah is getting Georges Niang with part of the $26.6 million John Collins trade exception,” Marks specified Tuesday. “Niang is on an ending $8.2 million agreement. Celtics tax expense drops from $73.1 million to $30.4 million. They are now $10.2 million below the second apron and $1.7 million over the first.”
Niang, who took on the Jazz from 2017 to 2021, is now set to complete a 2nd stint with the lowly Western Conference franchise.More NBA: Celtics could cut ties with 6-foot-7 NBA champ forward after newest trade, writer thinks
