Akok stable after collapsing throughout WVU exhibition

West Virginia forward Akok is alert and interacting after he suffered what the school called a medical emergency situation during the Mountaineers’ 85-78 win over George Mason in a charity exhibit on Friday night at WVU Coliseum in Morgantown.Akok collapsed while he was waiting with his teammates for the game to continue after an offending foul call against the Patriots at the 15:56 mark of the 2nd half. West Virginia medical personnel hurried towards him as he was lying on the court.Akok was carrying on the ground but seemed disoriented as he tried to get back up, triggering West Virginia medical workers to stop him. The crowd at WVU Coliseum fell silent while Akok was dealt with and placed on a stretcher.He was transported to Ruby Memorial Medical Facility.”I just got briefed with our medical staff,”West Virginia interim

coach Josh Eilert said on his radio program after the game.”He’s stable. He’s talking. He’s in an excellent location. He wished to want the guys well and praise them. He remains in an excellent location. However they’re going to monitor him over night and do a lot of screening over night to determine what’s going on. That’s all I have actually got. “It’s music to my ears that he’s doing excellent. He’s such a great kid and a terrific colleague. I never ever believed I ‘d see that minute and have to handle that.
