previous first-class hire awaiting an eligibility judgment from the NCAA, was detained early Tuesday on suspicion of robbery in Lincoln, Nebraska.Gilbert was arrested without incident while bring a bag out of an alcohol and vape shop, according to a declaration from the Lincoln Authorities Department.Police had been dispatched right before 2 a.m. after a report of a break-in, and found the glass door to the store shattered. Gilbert, 21, was discovered with more than$1,600 worth of stolen items, including vape products, the authorities declaration said. The damage to the store is estimated at $650. He was scheduled in the Lancaster County prison on a break-in charge, which is a felony in Nebraska.Nebraska coach Matt Rhule informed press reporters Tuesday that, upon knowing of the arrest, he was “clearly really dissatisfied, really sad”for Gilbert.Rhule is not right away sure how Gilbert’s arrest will affect his status with the team moving forward.”I’m not prepared to speak on that,”Rhule said.”I don’t understand anything about it, I truly just got that phone call and I’m not going to leap to conclusions about things.”Gilbert, ranked as ESPN’s No. 6 total recruit in the 2020 class, started his career at LSU and had 35 receptions for 368 yards as a real freshman. He initially elected to move to Florida after the season however then wound up choosing Georgia.Gilbert was not with the Bulldogs
