The top two running backs from last year’s Championship game squad are gone, so Milton and Kenny McIntosh will eventually contend for carries. As can be expected with a Kirby Smart backfield, the two will likely split carries, at least to start the season. Milton hurried 56 times for 264 backyards and a goal last season as a sophomore. He balanced 4.7 lawns per tote. McIntosh was much more productive than Milton as a receiver last season, so it stays possible that Milton is used more in early-down sets. However, Daijun Edwards and freshman Branson Robinson could also see some touches, making this backfield a jumbled mess and ultimately one where a committee takes shape.

Georgia’s congested backfield makes Milton a difficult player to get a continued reading for the upcoming season. Elders Zamir White and James Cook top the depth chart and job to take in a big percentage of the snaps, however Milton is too skilled to not remain in the mix. The 220-pounder averaged 5.3 backyards per carry in an injury-shortened freshman season and can be a direct backup to White in obvious run circumstances. Milton likely offers more utility for DFS than a season-long lineup area, a minimum of during draft season, but he is a gifted back that might carve out a larger role than one may anticipate provided his positioning on the depth chart.
