Wolverine Television: Q&A with brand-new first-class Michigan RB commit Savion

The Wolverine’s EJ Holland caught up with luxury Mineral (Va.) Louisa County running back Savion Hiter following his dedication to Michigan.

Hiter Recruitment

Michigan extended a deal to Hiter last offseason, shortly following the arrival of running backs coach Tony Alford.

Hiter and Alford built a strong bond and connected well on an individual level. Alford hired Hiter going back to his time at Ohio State.

Hiter made his first visit to Michigan last spring, went back to Ann Arbor for the Barbeque at The Big House and also went to the game versus Michigan State last October. Hiter just returned for his official visit this summertime.

He devoted to Michigan over fellow finalists Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee.

Here is what Holland had to say about his recruitment.

“Hiter has a terrific relationship with running backs coach Tony Alford, who has actually made him a top concern” Holland stated. “Alford recruited him as an underclassman at Ohio State, so there is already a connection there. There is a lot to like about Savion Hiter. He’s a home run hitter. He is a guy who can run hard between the deals with, but he’s more of a true all-purpose back who can play all 3 downs. He can line up as a receiver. He can capture loses consciousness of the back field. He’s actually really great in pass defense, too.”

At 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, Hiter is ranked as the No. 1 running back and No. 8 total recruit in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 1 hire in the state of Virginia for next cycle.

Michigan went into the day with the No. 10 ranked 2026 recruiting class nationally, per the On3 Market group recruiting rankings. Michigan is likewise ranked No. 4 in the Big Ten. USC presently has the top class in the conference.
