Missouri QB battle: Eli Drinkwitz supplies most current timeline to call

The Missouri quarterback battle between Beau Pribula and Sam Horn is still ongoing, per Eli Drinkwitz. Pribula infamously moved from Penn State in the middle of the College Football Playoff, due to the calendar.

However he’s an attracting skill and Missouri capitalized on landing him in the portal. Horn has actually seen some action over the last three seasons and actually used the Tigers’ baseball team too.

But there was no clear cut winner to the competitors quite yet. Drinkwitz even stated he wasn’t going to require himself into a faster choice.

“Yeah, I don’t have the timeline yet on the decision,” Drinkwitz said. “So, you understand, everyone else is pushed about week one. I’m not truly pressed about it. I’m continued who’s going to reveal themselves in the starting quarterback. I think you understand, they’re both playing really well from an analytical perspective, from a touchdown-interception ratio, from a conclusion percentage, from a third down portion.

“I broke everything down yesterday on our off day. It’s impressive how close it is. For me, it’s about being a transformational leader at this point, and who’s going to lean into the team and truly get the most out of those guys. And they’re going to have to sort of different themselves from the quarterback battle and actually get the most out of the guys they’re playing with.”

Both Pribula and Horn could play Week 1, per Drinkwitz. A battle stemming into the season has its advantages and disadvantages, relying on the schedule obviously. Missouri opens the season with Central Arkansas on August 28th.

“If we seem like there’s no clear cut choice, I’m not going to require the decision, and after that suggests that they would both play in the first game, and we’ll evaluate those reps,” Drinkwitz stated. “But I do not feel the pressure like, ‘Oh, I’ve got to make a decision. We got to move on and solidify it.’ Like, that’s not the case with this football group. So this team’s growing there. They require all of us, require seriousness, to raise our level, because, again, we didn’t start quick enough. So there’s got to be urgency when you show up and play, however that does not indicate I need seriousness to make a decision and force the wrong thing to happen.”

Drinkwitz will not rush it and both QBs provide their distinct skillsets. Something’s for sure, the Missouri head coach wishes to ensure he gets it right.
