More states will follow in the coming days– and numerous must-watch games are on the docket for the opening weeks. Below are the top-25 groups in the Rivals Composite High School Football Rankings, a proprietary algorithm that puts together rankings noted in the general public domain by respected media and information business. It consists of Massey, MaxPreps, ESPN and SI, developing the industry’s most extensive and geographically well balanced ranking.

1. Mater Dei Emperors (Calif.)

The Monarchs are coming off of an ideal 13-0 season that culminated in the California high school football Open Division state championship. They go into the season riding a 19-game winning streak and are favored to defend their title. The group kept four challengers off of the scoreboard and only enabled four opponents to score in double-figures.

The safeguarding Nevada Class 5A Division 1 state champions are the favorites to win everything once again this year, thanks to their outstanding collection of talent including quarterback Maika Eugenio, running back Terrance Grant, wide receiver Isaiah Nickels, edge rusher Prince Williams, linebacker Tamatoa Gaoteote, cornerback Hayden Stepp and safety Jett Washington.

St. Frances Academy will begin the season on Aug. 15 and will deal with a difficult schedule featuring other leading groups in the high school football rankings like Chaminade-Madonna, St. John Bosco, St. Joseph’s Preparation and IMG Academy.

Five-star edge rush Zion Elee (Maryland) headings a stacked lineup for the Panthers. He is joined by first-class security Jireh Edwards (Alabama), linebacker Maurice Assortment, edge rush Alexander Taylor and protective lineman Jayden Travers, among others
