Washington Commanders harken back to Super Bowl champions with new

The Washington Commanders– following a resurgent season boosted by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and brand-new coach Dan Quinn– on Wednesday unveiled new alternate uniforms and helmets that harken back to the group’s Super Bowl-winning teams.

The “Super Bowl Age” uniforms and helmet “pay homage to the franchise’s most effective duration, on the 93rd anniversary of the team’s inception,” according to a story on commanders.com. The uniforms will be worn 3 times during the 2025 season: Nov. 2 during a Sunday Night Football game versus Seattle; Nov. 30 against the Denver Broncos and Dec. 25 in a game on Netflix versus the Dallas Cowboys.

The uniforms are inspired by those used by Washington during the franchise’s Super Bowl success in 1982, 1987 and 1991. The jersey is white and features gold details and gold stripes on the sleeves. The back of the jersey has the players’ names in burgundy letters with a gold summary. The trousers are burgundy and the socks are gold-and-white striped.

The helmet likewise will have a 1980s and ’90s look with the team’s present logo design, a gold face mask and white-and-gold stripes down the center.

“These uniforms honor the most successful era of our franchise– one that shows a culture of quality and encompasses lots of historical minutes and unique memories among our fanbase,” group president Mark Clouse told Commanders.com. “We anticipate bringing that nostalgic feeling back to fans, while including a modern feel for our next generation of fans.”

The Commanders open training school in Ashburn on July 27 and in a nod to their success last season– 12 regular-season wins and an NFC Championship game appearance– free passes for all public sessions have been claimed. Washington’s regular-season opener is Sept. 9 against the New York Giants at Northwest Stadium.
