The NCAA men’s basketball committee might not be more clear: Teams, not conferences, are what it thinks about in selecting and seeding the NCAA competition field. Put another way, conference affiliation is not a consider any choice committee deliberations.As far as we can see,
the committee is informing the reality. But, the truth is everybody from a conference’s commissioners to its most passionate fans resides in a world of bragging rights. Not just are huge dollars at stake in the kind of NCAA profits units, but who does not desire their league to be considered the nation’s best?All of which is extra relevant heading into the 2024-25 season,
a year integrating major conference realignment. The Big Ten and ACC have grown to 18 members; the Huge 12 and SEC are at 16 schools each. The Pac-12 as we understand it is gone, in addition to its 4.3 NCAA quotes per season.
