Utah’s Increasing out for season, Wilson named starter
Oct 14, 2024, 10:05 PM ET SALT LAKE CITY– Utah quarterback Webcam Rising is out for the season with a lower leg injury and coach Kyle Whittingham said Monday real freshman Isaac Wilson will be the Utes’ starter till additional notice.Rising was hurt in Utah’s 27-19 loss to Arizona State on Friday. His leg was bent backward at an awkward angle following a hit on the Utes’ very first drive. The seventh-year senior finished out the contest but had problem with his movement and precision. He completed just 43% of his passes and tossed 3 interceptions against the Sun Devils.Rising has already missed three games this season since of an injury to his tossing hand. He remained all the 2023 season after suffering a significant knee injury in the 2023 Rose Bowl.Editor’s Picks Utah released a statement from Whittingham on Monday evening validating that Rising will miss the
remainder of the 2024 season. “Throughout his time at Utah, Cam has been both a great player and leader for our program, and he will undoubtedly be
missed, “Whittingham stated in the statement.”Any future advancements worrying his collegiate eligibility will be addressed at a later date. “Wilson, the younger brother of Denver Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson, filled in for Rising throughout his earlier absence. He posted a 2-1 record as a starter while tossing for 726 yards and five touchdowns with five interceptions.”We seem like the quarterback position is steady.
