EUGENE, Ore.– Oregon pass receiver Traeshon Holden was ejected in the 2nd quarter of Saturday night’s game for spitting into the face of Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun.The incident took place quickly after Holden captured a 32-yard pass. Two plays later on, video replay revealed Holden spitting into Igbinosun’s face mask after going out for a pass in completion zone. Igbinosun gone back to the sideline for a short time before coming back into the game.Holden was accompanied off the field
and into the tunnel, where he took off his helmet and threw it. The unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for spitting required the Ducks to opt for a field goal, offering Oregon a 15-14 lead.The Ducks went on to beat the No. 2 Buckeyes 32-31.
Holden, a senior, entered into the weekend as Oregon’s second-leading receiver with 19 catches for 274 yards.Meanwhile, Ohio State star left tackle Josh Simmons was hauled off the field in the second quarter and did not return. The Buckeyes were currently dealing with losing right guard Tegra Tshabola to an injury earlier in Saturday’s game.
