Carroll to go back to USC, this time to teach class

Pete Carroll isn’t sure whether he’ll return to training. In the meantime, he’s going back to USC.The former Seattle Seahawks and Trojans coach informed Sports Radio 93.3 KJR-FM on Tuesday that he’ll start teaching a class at USC this spring, though he didn’t use any specifics beyond that.
“I’m looking forward to that,” Carroll said. “It’s going to be a truly interesting venture when it’s finalized and all that.”

Carroll’s radio appearance marked his first remarks to local media given that his farewell news conference at Seahawks headquarters in January, after group owner Jody Allen announced that he was transitioning into an advisory function with the company. A source has told ESPN that Carroll has just nominally been an advisor to the Seahawks, and he informed the radio station that he has actually been keeping his distance from the team.Carroll, though, stated he will be doing some recommending for “some other clubs.” He would not define which ones however did clarify that they aren’t football teams. Another current project included a trip to an American military base in Kuwait for a basketball competition with U.S. troops. He said that experience advised him that he needs to continue to return.
“I’m excited about it because there’s more things to teach,” he stated. “There’s more stuff to share. Everyone would like to know what I’m doing and all that, am I coaching or what am I doing, I’m working with some actually enjoyable people and some amazing chances to do some really cool stuff and putting things together … for others, so I’m going to keep working that way and see what occurs.”
Carroll said he hasn’t had much interaction with the Seahawks’ brand-new personnel aside from an unscripted conference with his follower, Mike Macdonald.
“I have not talked to those guys at all,” he said. “I faced Mike in the parking lot one day, and it was a great possibility to simply, the two people alone, to fulfill, say hey and type of get greeted, and on we go. I have actually not had much to do with them in any way, and truly I’m simply watching the games a bit when I see them on television. I’m not paying that much attention to it due to the fact that it simply seems like it’s the ideal thing to do to let them go. I don’t truly have any opinion besides they’re actually hardworking and it’s a really smart group of guys, and I understand that they have a good group around them to build on and it seems like they’ve done some truly advantages. … With purpose I’m keeping away from it and I’m not checking out with them at all.”
Carroll, 72, coached USC from 2001 to 2009, before joining the Seahawks for a 14-year run in Seattle. He is among just three coaches to win a Super Bowl and a college nationwide championship.Carroll didn’t close the door on coaching once again, stating he hasn’t lost his one-upmanship, however he noted he doesn’t feel the desire to do so today.” I get asked it a lot and I’m pretty acquainted with the response now, “he stated. “I could coach tomorrow. I’m physically in the best shape I’ve remained in a very long time. I’m ready to do all the activities that I’m doing and feeling actually great about it. I could, however I don’t really– I’m not desiring it at this moment. This isn’t the training season. We’ll see what occurs. I’m not waiting on it at all. I’m going on. I’ve got other things that I wish to do that I’m delighted about, and I’m visiting how all that goes. I’m not believing that I’m holding my breath which example. If it’s been 40-something years, 48 years or whatever coaching, and that’s it, I’ll feel okay about that.”
