Worries rejoins Spartans after December shooting

EAST LANSING, Mich.– Michigan State point player Jeremy Fears is signing up with the team for an upcoming overseas trip and prepares to bet Tom Izzo for the first time considering that he was shot last winter.

“Grateful for this opportunity to get to play some skirmish games, and simply being able to play once again,” Fears stated Tuesday after practicing with the group. “Who knows what could have occurred? However I’m still able to play at 99%, back with my team, back at the program that I love. I can’t truly complain.”

Izzo stated the redshirt freshman is close to 100% after seeing him in recent practices, preparing to leave next week for 3 scrimmages in Spain.

“The last 1% would be just returning to playing basketball every day,” Fears stated. “Obviously I didn’t play for 7 months.”

Fears was given a redshirt, giving him 4 more seasons of eligibility after he was limited to 12 games last season. He balanced 3.5 points and 3.3 assists in 15-plus minutes, and had a season-high 10 assists in a win over Stony Brook 2 days before he was shot.
