130 races later, Tyler Ankrum snaps winless streak in Rockingham

McAnally-Hilgemann Racing’s Tyler Ankrum is when again a NASCAR Truck Series winner. For the first time considering that July, 2019, the Truck Series routine has gone back to Victory Lane, and it wasn’t simple, falling a lap down early in NASCAR’s go back to Rockingham. But he never ever quit, stretching the fuel longer than anybody around him during the final run.

Ending a six-year winless streak after 130 races implies Ankrum now holds the record for the longest winless streak ever broken in the history of the NASCAR Truck Series.

“I can’t thank these guys enough for the way this day began and going a lap down and (my team chief) making the pit call to get the track position back,” stated Ankrum, who struggled to find the winner’s circle. “Just conserving fuel. I understood we were five brief and I was simply hoping I saved enough and we did.”

Discussing how he was able to save fuel, Ankrum continued: “I understand being 5 or 6 laps short resembles 6 miles, so you simply need to be able to give up whatever. I simply discovered something there where I was raising about 60% down the straightaway, but I was able to draft off of [Matt] Crafton and a couple other guys and I was able to conserve that way. It’s simply surreal. I seem like this is basically how it decreased at Kentucky in 2019. However here we are now.”

Nevertheless, with his last stop beginning Lap 94, he had no chance of making it. With 30 laps to go, he gave up the race lead and dove to the pits.
